10:00AM – 3:00PM – Empowerment Series  –

Where: The Marriott City Center

The sessions will cover a diverse range of topics and issues impacting the Black LGBT community and other communities of color. Topics will include finances, religion/spirituality, social justice, politics, media/marketing, relationships, leadership/professional development, and health.

10:00AM – 12:00PM

Session 1 – 10:00AM – 12:00PM - “If It’s Wrong, Why Does It Feel So Right?” Pt. 2

Where: The Marriott City Center, Normandy A Ballroom

Facilitated by: Pastor Alex Byrd

Local, state, national clergy and church officials come together to discuss mental and social issues as it relates to embracing your true sexuality while wondering if God is going to send you to hell for being lesbian, gray, bisexual or transgender.

Session 2 - 10:00AM – 12:00PM - “Life After Debt”

Where: The Marriott City Center, Normandy B Ballroom

Where: The Marriott City Center

This workshop will be an interactive session discussing the economy, financial literacy and managing finances in this challenging economic environment. How can I keep my head above the water?

Session 3 – 10:00AM – 12:00PM - “Get on the Bus

Where: The Marriott City Center, Champagne Ballroom

Why should you vote?  Do you know your rights?  How does the act of brave individuals like Dallas Lesbian C.D. Kirven and many others being arrested in non-violent protest advocating for LGBT equality impact decisions made in congress and improve the lives of millions?  Let’s talk social justice, politics and how to effectively advocate for a better LGBTQ tomorrow.

10:00AM – 2:30PM – The Chit Chat Lounge

The DFW Pride Movement realizes that we can’t always cover every topic area within the limited amount of time allotted.  Therefore we have added the Chit Chat Lounge as a safe space for various community groups to come together to openly discuss issues important to their particular demographic, i.e. Youth, The Non-traditional Lesbian and Gay Family, and Transgender Discrimination.  This space will be used for 1 hour discussions that will be used to create later forums of community discussions beyond pride.  Please check reader board for topics and discussion times.

Session 1 – 12:30PM – 2:30PM - “First Come Love, Then Come Marriage” 

Where: The Marriott City Center, Normandy A Ballroom

Facilitated By: Angela Harvey

Join presenter Angela Harvey as she journeys through the stages of a relationships beginning with dating, then stopping by the free fall (falling in love) then on to the talk (of marriage) and all the changes and challenges in between.  The journey will highlight LGBTQ love, relationship etiquette, marriage equality, domestic violence and the concept of happily ever after.

Session 2 – 12:30PM – 2:30PM - “Information Super Highway”

Where: The Marriott City Center, Normandy B Ballroom

Join Teedee Davis of Dallas Her Pride, AIDS.gov, Maurice Jamal of Glo TV, and Coach Couture of the Coach Couture YouTube Show as they discuss the importance of creating trending online topics, social media branding, ecommerce and online marketing ideas that could prove to be very  informative and even profitable for today’s media savvy.

Session 3 – 12:30PM – 2:30PM - “LIVE!”

Where: The Marriott City Center, Champagne Ballroom

When was the last time you had a check-up?Have your body been giving you little signs that something may not quite be right?  Guys did you know that man-to-man oral sex can cause throat cancer?  Ladies did you know that it’s possible that HPV could be transmitted on shared toys not thoroughly cleansed between use in one (infected) partner and the next.The African American Community is plagued by so many diseases that have taken a toll on our quality of life including high blood, diabetes, and breast cancer.
